The service cannot accept control messages at this time

I'm trying to network and share a common internet
coonection between two computer with Internet Connection
Sharing. I have them hooked via a crossover cable and
two NIC's. One NIC was in one of the computers when it
was purchased and that box is running Win XP Home. I
know networking is not enabled by default on XP home but
it is now. The other box has a newly installed NIC and
is running Win XP Pro. Until a few days ago I was using
an external NIC on this box hooked via USB and hooked to
the NIC on the other box. It worked fine until yesterday
and I couldn't get the two computers to see eachother
anymore. They both had access to the net but couldn't
share. I installed the internal nic and the crossover
cable and now I get the message "An error occured while
Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled." "The
service cannot accept control messages at this time."

Has anyone seen this before and do you have an answer for
what it means and what to do? The internet connection is
an external cable modem. All firewalls have been
disabled.

Thanks in advance
.

The service cannot accept control messages at this time

This is what I get. But I fixed the problem by changing
the IP address of my router/gateway. I am now allowed to
share my ICS. I had to change the 1st set of numbers for
IP address to do this. I had been changing only the last
set of numbers for the IP address which still gave me an
error message stating that another LAN device had the IP
address required for ICS.

Thanks for your help.
